Mom Moments

Cassidy is my 2nd child.  She is almost 9 years old.

A couple weeks ago I ran into an old family friend. Showing Fred the pictures of my kids, he says “Your kids are all adorable.”  Then he pointed to Cass and said “There’s Emilie Junior!  She looks just like you!”

Firstly, I always like to take that as a persoal compliment!  Your child is cute, and your child looks like you, ergo you are also cute.  I’m sure there is something illogical in that line of thinking, but I’m sticking with it!

But I said to Fred, “Oh!  She’s my fiesty one.”

He replied with,”Yup, exactly like you.”

I’m not sure if “fiesty” is how I would describe myself, but whatever I am, Cassie is too.  I wish I could say I had been like Cassie when I was a kid, but I was ridiculously shy.  Cassie is outgoing, fun, and engaging.  She’s very theatrical and comes up with some very funny jokes.

And she’s smart.  She has me carrying two books in my purse for her.  I said, “You’re reading two books at the same time!”  She answered with “No, I’m reading a third book too but its at home.  “Ramona Quimby, Age 8″, a Jigsaw Jones book, and a Mary Kate and Ashley book.

She is the best big sister to the boys (Andrew and Jason).  And the best big/little sister to Maddie.  Cassie has such a strong motherly instinct, sometimes I follow her lead on what the heck I should be doing.

She’s the best, plain and simple.
