Kids may roll their eyes when their mother asks them about their school day, but answering her may actually help them learn. New research from Vanderbilt University reveals that children learn the solution to a problem best when they explain it to their mom.

Hmmm – I wonder if the reason they “learn more” is because the child knows they will be quizzed by momma when they get home, therefore they pay better attention in class so they’ll have something to talk about when asked, or if it’s just the “extra” step of recalling what they learned that day and trying to explain it in their own terms.
