My favorite magazine is Family Fun.  My kids like it too, they read it more than other kid subscriptions we’ve had in the past.

On the website, they have a one year subscription for $10.  That would be a good group gift for your friend’s children, your child’s classroom, or a set of cousins.

If you wanted to have “something” for them to actually open, maybe a foamy craft kit for each kid (less than $2 each) from Crafts 2000 and the current edition of Family Fun might be nice.
