So I took my own advice and the kids went with me to vote this morning before we had to leave for school. At 7:30am, there were people there, but the line wasn’t bad at all.
My girls had voted on Monday in their school’s mock election. They were happy to tag along and see “real” voting.
The boys were happy to go too. The elections and voting have been pretty popular dinner table topics.
But on our way out of the polling place, the boys started with their questions.
“When do we get a vote?”
“I didn’t see the votes, where are the votes at?”
“Mom, I want a vote.”
“Do you have our fishing poles?”
Hmmm! That last question led me to believe we were NOT on the same subject here.
Apprently, the poor little fellas took all of our talk about
So when they heard me explain ”You get your boat from your mind, it’s your choice,” that was probably pretty confusing!
And probably the funniest part was seeing the anger of a four-year-old…he had been given a little “I Voted” sticker on the way out, and he was going to tear that thing into little pieces because he was so mad at me! No boat ride, no boats to look at, no fishing poles!
But he couldn’t rip it! Stickers are A LOT tougher than regular paper.
Oh, the frustrations of voting day!

The old bait and switch… Tell the boys they’re going boating and take them to the polls. Some people know no shame.

I think this post is all wet, and was sunk from the beginning.
