I <3 to bake. I’m one of those bizarro people who ACTUALLY uses their bread machine. I think I’m on my fifth machine.
Anyways, these are the best baking ingredient deals that I know of, and I kick myself if I run out of either items and can’t make it to Gordon Food Service (GFS) and have to breakdown and go to Kroger or Meijer.
My poor children have been cookie-less for a whole week because I refused to pay so much at the grocery store for vanilla and didn’t have time to make it to GFS.
16 fluid ounces vanilla extract from GFS: $9.99 ( 62 cents per fl oz)
vs.
2 fluid ounces vanilla extract from Kroger/Meijer: $3.99 ($2 per fl oz)
16 ounce bag of yeast from GFS: $2.99 (19 cents per oz)
vs.
4 ounce jar of yeast from Kroger/Meijer: $5.99 ( $1.50 per oz)

Postscript: Ignore the bowl of apples, coffee thermos and bag of leftover quesadillas in the background.
Note to self: remove the junk from the counter before you take a picture next time!

Ha! There’s a couple of reasons I now shoot my “grocery shopping brag” photos in the store, while the stuff is in my shopping cart … rather than follow the common practice of displaying it on my kitchen counter.
One reason is the background clutter.
The other reason is the bright lights in the grocery store are resulting in better photos!
