Monroe County Library System is offering a creative crafts class for “tweens.” My two daughters are attending and having a great time.
Last week’s project was “altered book.” Slightly different than what I anticipated it would be, as all the inside pages were removed and filled with a blank sheets for a journal. In the other examples of altered books I had seen, the pages remained.
But it would be a very nice and affordable personalized gift to make for a close friend. The hardest part would be making the holest to string it all together through the spine of the book. Perhaps a leather punch would work? At the library, I’m not sure what it was they used, but it was big and dangerous looking. Some of the kids used ribbon to hold the book together in place of the rings.
My book would not look like this, but this is completely Cass. The paper key and hand-drawn lock, and the comments about her drawings, the flowers and buttons and filmstrip…. its just “her”. My creative girl.
