I thought my summer to-do-list seemed pretty interesting, but somehow I left “take a 13 hour swim across the English Channel” off of my list.
In 1983, I remember it was pretty exciting that *MY* cousin (ok, my cousin Mary’s husband) John Muenzer was swimming across Lake Erie to Cedar Point.
My Aunt (hi Aunt Dee!) told me that John just swam across the English Channel.
Did you know that besides huge ships, frigid water and strong currents, there are jellyfish in the English Channel? I had no idea.
Way to go John! I can’t imagine the strength (physical and mental) it takes to do that. That is quite the accomplishment.
I think I’ll stick to the jellyfish-free swimming pool.

Hey Emilie;
Thanks, but here’s a hint; put a small shark into your swimming pool, the kids will really learn to swim fast!
Just kidding, after what John went through I’m not going near anything larger than a birdbath.
By the way your children are adorable!

Wow… swimming the English Channel, that sure beats the heck out of my “can swim under water 2/3rds the length of a large pool.”

I don’t think I even made it half way!
Hey, do you remember a shark in Aunt Dee’s pool?
