I’m not!  I receive an e-newsletter “Your Baby is __ Weeks Old.”  It lists what to expect and milestones and stuff like that.

I was a bit dismayed when a recent newsletter came in : Your Baby is 22 Weeks Old, Planning For His First Birthday

Who plans for a baby’s party THIRTY WEEKS in advance?!  That’s longer than he’s even been here.  I hadn’t even entertained the thought that one day he will in fact be one.  Logically, I know he will be, but not once have I thought about his first birthday party.

Obviously this is a newsletter for first time parents. 

I haven’t planned the cookout for out-of-town guests that will be here in 3 weeks, haven’t planned a party for the girl who’s birthday is in 4 weeks, haven’t bought the supplies for kids who start school in 5 weeks, haven’t signed up my 3 year-old up for preschool that starts in 6 weeks…

Thirty weeks to plan a party for someone who will sleep through part of it and need to be hosed off afterwards?  Who does that?
