Is it the air?

This is my second year teaching.  Everyone warned me how sick I would get last year and ::bingo::!, I only got sick once and it wasn’t even worthy of taking the day off.  I didn’t take vitamins, didn’t sleep anymore, nothing.

Fast forward to this year: I take multivitamins, echinacea, vitamin C, AirBorne, etc.  I have been sick 3 times! The third time being today.  It’s killer, my sick time is dwindling like I’d never imagine.  Someone joked with me today it’s the air in Monroe.  It was a come back because whenever people mention bad weather in their area and ask me how it is down here I don’t have horror stories.  The weather really does seem better down here (or maybe it’s just me?).  So maybe I traded weather for sickness? Who knows. Hope you’re not sick like me!

Yep, fighting it the same as you. Horrible isn’t it! AACCHOOO!

I’d probably blame the eighth graders, especially the boys, notorius for not knowing anything about sanitation besides taking out the trash. Every possible variation of cold and flu is all over your classroom, and not a bottle of Purell is in sight. But they sure get cleaned up when love is in the air, don’t they? ;-)

Last year you did not take any extra precautions. This year you pumped up your body with different viatmins and other cold remedies. Maybe these items compromised your immune system.

Heather you have a great point! Operation immune system is stopping immediately. I actually have a huge jar of hand sanitizer on my desk for my students to use and have found myself using it more this year – maybe I’ll just stick to the regular hand washing and forget about that, too.

    Come back, immune system!

Jessika, I’ve given up trying to stay well; at least until winter is over. With two small kids, they are always bringing home something to share –whether it be a simple cold that hangs on for weeks, or the flu. And believe me, we sanitize everything!! I don’t think that it’s the Monroe air exactly. I chalk it up to this stupid Michigan weather.
