Tragedy on the web

One of my most frequently visited sites, The Monroe Evening News, seems to be down.  I’m very sad. Anyone else down about this?

ACE Diamond Jewelers - Dearborn

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

In this post, someone suggested I try ACE Diamond Jewelers in Dearborn for our wedding bands.  Because we had literally tried everywhere.  My ring had been cleaned dozens of times in one week (because every place you walk into insists on cleaning it, and how can you say no?) and we still hadn’t found anything.  Ryan’s ring was all picked out but mine was hopeless.  I had the forerunner from a place in the Southland Mall and then we figured we’d try out the reader’s suggestion of ACE.  We were not impressed as we drove up but was there stuff beautiful! Hugh, our salesperson, was awesome.  We got a great deal on BOTH our rings, and right now they’re even working on my engagment ring (touching up the beading).  This place was truly awesome and worth the drive.  Thanks for the tip!

Detroit Beach Pizzeria

Saturday, February 17th, 2007

I had Valentine’s Day off due to the snow, so a teacher friend of mine drove down.  We graded some papers at Beaner’s then went to Craft 2000 and spent entirely too much money.  She asked me if I wanted to go out to dinner, so I texted Ryan who, being used to the hustle and bustle of Valentine’s Days in Canton & Ann Arbor, said no because he didn’t want to deal with the chaos. Plus we had food pulled out.

I, however, was sad. Which lead to the demise of the macaroni and cheese I was making, which turned out to be more like….macaroni, water, and a tad of cheese.  To make a long story short, we decided we might as well try the Detroit Beach Pizzeria that is just up the street from us since every person we’ve talked to has mentioned how good it is.

Ooooh, and it’s good! I’m still craving the gnocci! The food was so fast and affordable - we both ate, had bread, cute salads, and drinks for under $20.  That’s rare these days and definitely qualifies Detroit Beach Pizzeria in our FAVORITES category along with Pete’s Garage, Michigan Bar and Grill, and The Monroe Street Grill.

I can’t wait to get take out from the pizzeria now that we have menus!
