Bolle’s Harbor Cafe - fantastico!

Despite the direction issue from this morning, we managed to find our way to the Bolles Harbor Cafe.  Google maps gave me extra directions for some unknown reason (though none involved swimming like the previous ones) but we found it easily.  Both Kristen and I were surprised at how busy the place was - and how small.  It reminded me a bit of the Detroit Beach Pizzeria - small and quaint.  I was hoping I’d love the food just as much, and did I ever.  I had a Mexican omlette, something I normally wouldn’t order.  It was lunch and I ordered breakfast, which is very rare for me, but I had chicken breast for breakfast so I figured I might as well keep switching up the meals today.  It was beyond yum.  I even had a few bites from the rye toast, bad South Beach dieter phase I dieter that I am, and it was totally yum.  I didn’t even try the hashbrowns, that’s how good (the diet and) the food was.

I can’t wait to go back for dinner - looks like they have some seriously yum stuff.  And I love how so many places around here offer prime rib for dinner…I’m in heaven. I’m going to drag Ryan there for dinner ASAP.

EDIT: Well gee, the English teacher comes out in me whenever someone links to my posts.  Here I’m thinking, “Review? I hardly reviewed anything! I better get descriptive, you never know what’s going to be on the test!” So here’s a bit more info about our ventures for those of you who have never been to Bolle’s Harbor Cafe.

The restaurant is easy to find and cute on the outside; having grown up on Long Island, it’s very accurate for a little sea-side mom-and-pop kind of place.  The decor inside is cute and interesting to look at - old compasses, shipping signs, etc.  The place is tiny and we went on a Sunday morning so there definitely was a wait, but not much and certainly well worth it.  Both Kristen and I ate for about $15.00, including tip and my coffee. Their coffee, by the way, is to die for.  And I can say that because I’m Colombian and this coffee was even better than the freshest of the fresh coffee I had a few years ago in Costa Rica.  Service isn’t super speedy but what place with just two waitresses is? It’s definitely worth that wait, too.  A table near us ordered a fruit platter and South Beach or not, I couldn’t help but drool over their delcious-looking watermelon, cheese, grapes, and more.  That’s definitely on the list for next time (diet providing).  Everyone’s food, in fact, was enough to make me drool.

Totally yum.

[...] Over on “Not From Around Here”, fellow BlogsMonroe blogger Jessika offers her review of a Mexican omelet at Bolle’s Harbor Café. It’s a good thing she didn’t follow the directions she’d originally gotten, or she might have been a bit more hungry … [...]

Hey, I wouldn’t have called it a ‘review’ if it wasn’t one in the first place! ;-)

So glad you liked it (always a concern when making a recommendation - but felt safe with this one)! Sorry I missed your request for directions.

As a fellow south beacher, they have some great salads too!

[...] Over on Not From Around Here, fellow BlogsMonroe blogger Jessika gave the Bolles Harbor Café quite a nice review. I’d driven by the place a couple times and it looked interesting. This morning there were five of us, and I convinced the rest that Jessika’s review was enough for me to want to take everyone there. [...]

You do know that the proprietor of Bolle’s Harbour Cafe is from the same family that owns Detroit Beach Pizzeria?
    Both are great!
