2 days

Wow.  I’ll be married in two days.  I think you understand why I haven’t posted so frequently lately - weddings are a lot of work!

Though we’re getting married at Waldenwoods in Hartland, so far all our experiences with vendors in Monroe have been great.  Wedding Creations, where I bought my dress, was a dream to work with - so was their seamstress, who was amazing.  And we found a rental place in Carleton that rented us 20 chairs and 2 tables for the impromptu post-wedding bbq we are having the day after.  Yes, we are insane.

We leave Sunday for Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands - 13 days of equatorial bliss.  I can’t wait. I promise to post pictures.

Boston and Monroe actually have similarities!

Less than 10 days until we get married. Obviously you know why I haven’t been posting so much lately.  Not only that, but in the 2 weeks before our wedding I was laid-off at work due to cuts, filed for unemployment, went to Boston for 3.5 days, and of course had all that wedding stuff to do. I’m a little nuts right now, don’t mind me.

Anyway, I just got back from Boston and was shocked to drive down their streets and realize there are a lot of similarities to the houses in downtown Monroe, which I love.  They all have a similar feel, though the houses here have much more land.  The old churches have a similar style as well, but all of ours appear to be open. Anyway, it made me excited to have more visitors to show them around the place.

Also, for anyone else who is addicted to the Detroit Beach Cafe coffee and crave it 1500 miles away: I think I found a good substitute. Yum.

weekend

I stink.  I’ve been really bad with posting and I’m sorry.

I still hate may/fishflies but Tim’s comment about how they show Lake Erie is healthy makes me guilty.  I hate them but not as much now.  I like Lake Erie healthy.

The city must be in demo mode; they finally demoed the house across the street as promised in OCTOBER and the beautiful structure/plant on Dixie & Nobel is being torn down.  That one makes me sad - I thought that building was so beautiful for some reason.  Out with the old, in with the new, I guess.

Our sub is having a huge sub-wide garage sale today.  Wish we had dogs that could walk the entire thing! Instead I’ll just have to make trips with both of them, 2 or 3 blocks each.  Silly bulldogs. :)

It’s a beautiful weekend.
