In the past week, I’ve been to Dundee twice and neither trip did I make time for Cabela’s. Can you believe that? I can hardly believe I’ve lived here over a year and had just now gone to Dundee! I guess I always thought it was further away, but no, just over 20 minutes (ok, so I speeded a bit).
Anyway, for the first trip there was no time for Cabela’s since we were going to a Sunday evening wake for a friend’s mum. The second trip, though, bears no excuse. We went to my first corn maze in Dundee, right behind Cabela’s. I think it’s called Farmer J’s? We went around 9pm with ginormous flashlight in hand. Out of the 18 checkpoints, we did the first five smoothly and then things went horrendously down hill. An hour and a half later we emerged, having walked probably more than half the maze so a good few miles in the dark. It was a lot of fun. Afterwards we wanted to find a Big Boy-like place to have some dessert and rehydrate but there wasn’t much, so we ended up at Applebees. I definitely reccomend corn mazes, especially in the dark! Good times.
Glad to hear you enjoyed Farmer J’s cornmaze. For years the owner donated the proceeds of the corn maze to the Dundee Wrestling program. I worked out there a few times since my kid wrestles (the parents took turns donating their time), but I’ve never actually been through the maze.
It got to be too much trouble keeping it staffed with volunteers from the wrestling club, so I don’t think the proceeds go to the wrestling program anymore, but it was nice while it lasted.
Anyway, I’ll have to take the kids over and try it out this year!
