Michigan weather wonders: the human kind

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Marvelous things I have seen today:

1. Someone shoveling their driveway at 6am. Whoa.

2. A broom rigged to the windshied of a jeep because the wipers didn’t work. I don’t know if this was ingenious or the stupidest thing I have ever seen in Michigan.

3. Stiletto heels on ice/slush/water/mush at Wayne State. AND she was carrying a purse, bag, and backpack. Whoa!

Doggie treat promises to keep

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

My neice turned 6 yesterday. I finally got a chance to talk to her today and mentioned we were making Henry and Annie doogie treats - totally homemade. She asked if I could make some for her dog in honor of her birthday. She wants them in the shape of bones and with his name on them. I scoured Kroger, Meijer and Walmart for ANY cookie cutters and found NONE. Seriously, none. What on earth have I done? How soon can Amazon have them to me, you think?

I’m a pretty die-hard diet coke fan. If I had to give up food for the rest of my life I would totally be ok as long as I could have two things: diet coke and coffee (hence the bazillion posts about my new love, Rendezvous Cafe). And when I say diet coke, I mean diet coke - diet pepsi is just not the same. I am sometimes so addicted I’ve been known to ask, “Do you have coke or pepsi products?” and if they say pepsi, I’ll order water. I am just that addicted some days.

We’re heading out to dinner in a few minutes (7 is late for us!) and can’t help but want to feed this diet coke addiction. It’s a night where I might turn down diet pepsi, I really might. But it feels like so few places around here are coke places - Panera, Pete’s, Quatro’s, Michigan…all pepsi. Maybe we’ll go to Vaquero’s, though Friday night is normally Mexican night. We’ll see…
