Library

Reminder to self regarding the Monroe County Library System (which is fabulous, by the way):

1. When you check out DVDs, return them promptly or enjoy a $1/day late fee.

2. If you don’t return them promptly, at least make the effort to view one at least once to make you feel like the $15 was worth at least something.

3. Attempt to change your name/soc/driver’s license if you have a large fee. (Ahem, I would NEVER do that….hehe)

4. Go on Fine Free Friday. If you cannot wait to check out something and you owe more than $5, pay off balance to $5 and then use the rest for Fine Fridays or whatever they are called.

5. Realize that the new car doesn’t have a tape player before you pick out rockin’ books on tape you are dying to read (hear?).

6. Return.stuff.on.time! Duh.

Monroe secrets

Secret #1: Rendezvous has a frequent coffee card – just ask at the desk. Wish I would have known that a few weeks back when I first became obsessed, I might have a free coffee coming! Those sugar cookie lattes are addictive.

Secret #2: Maggie Moo’s is busy at all hours, even in the winter.

Secret #3: Maggie Moo’s is yummy year round.

Secret #4: Crafts 2000 is worth a 30 minute drive. Honestly.

Lucky!

I’m lucky to be writing to you this morning – I almost burned the house down last night with myself and the doggies in it! I got home around 9, ate dinner, relaxed for a bit, and then tried to make a heart-shaped cookie for my husband for Valentine’s day – and forgot all about it. I fell asleep and kept waking up thinking, “What on earth is that sweet burning smell?” but kept going back to bed. Finally, at 2am, I realized I’d forgotten to turn off the oven and take the cookie out.

Our house sure does smell nasty,  and it stinks I can’t really open the windows to get rid of the stink, but man am I glad it wasn’t on fire and I caught it when I did. No more late night baking for me, that’s for sure.
