Shame on me

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on you.

Twice now I have bought expired dairy products from my local Kroger. TWICE. The first time my husband said, “Didn’t you look?” Well no, I don’t expect to have to do the store’s job for them. This time, my item was on sale so you’d think it would imply someone looked over them.

When did it expire? JUNE 8. JUNE. As in, nearly two months ago!

What on earth do you do? Bring it back to the store? Check everything? Neither seem like a valid solution. I’d email the store, but nothing is listed. Maybe I’ll email headquarters. It makes me worry about more health sensitive foods, like meats and seafood!

Grrrrr that I didn’t check!

Shadiness exists everywhere…even in Monroe

Fellow Blogger Tonya of What Is Normal posted earlier about her husband, Will, and his unexplained firing from the Arthur Leslow Community Center. The MEN article says it all – read it for yourself, but you’ll see that there doesn’t appear to be much explanation for this irrational event.  In fact, they issued no statement at all.

I find it interesting that I tried to email the center and lo and behold, the email address isn’t working. Shocking, isn’t it? I’m going to be crafting my own real letter soon, to the board, asking for clarification. If it’s a public non-profit, seems like the public (and Will!) have the right to know a firing without explanation.

Read the comments on the MEN article and on Tonya’s website and you’ll see her husband is very well loved in the community. In fact, on Monroe Talks and several other areas I’ve seen a lot of positive things about him. It’s a shame to hear of this happening. Here’s to hoping the MEN will be able to uncover some reasoning behind this.
