Humane Society acts in pets’ best interests ?

Did you see the letter to the editor in tues paper.  Michaeline Hannum was defending the humane society policies. The first 2 paragraphs of her letter were great. From there the letter was typical of the humane society. She started to attack people with barking dogs.  She said cannot tolerate people that do not spay/neuter there animals, as well as other things.  All dogs bark.  Inside dogs as well as outside dogs. If her own  Husky was to  howl all day long while she was away, other people would complain whether that dog is inside or out.  There are many reasons a dog should not be left outside. Shame on you for only commenting on one of the least important. As far as her comment that it irresponsible to not spay/neuter. Does she not know that every dog at the Westminster Dog Show was not spayed or neutered. Who is she to say all of these people are Irresponsible.  Who is she to call the American Kennel Club Irresponsible.

Like I said, this is typical. These are the same people that adopt out dogs that has bitten everyone that works there. and then swear that the dog is not aggressive. Then they put danger signs on cages of dogs who never bit anyone.  You cannot judge any one without first looking at the whole picture.  This is why God created adoption applications.  With these apps. we can verify that the info the people give us is true and in the best interest of the dog.  Don’t act as if your picky about the home a dog is adopted to, when your President of the Board said a few weeks ago that anyone can adopt any dog. Also you said that no shelter does home visits. If this were true why is it on your own applications. For your info most rescue/ shelters do. It is the Dog Pounds that do not.

By the end of this letter she went on to shame all the people in the city of Monroe and the newspaper for not being more supportive. Did she forget about shaming other Board Members and volunteer’s out of there last fall ?  They were all major supporters. Did she forget about the last scam to get a new shelter?  People tend to not trust some who raises money under false pretences.  This Monroe Humane Society is not a Humane Society at all. But that name is sure to raise money. Is this just another scam? Just last summer they were raising money for the U of Pit program.  This was good promotion for  the breed, the dogs all were to receive a 1 yr supply of dog food, training cert for the dog, and AKC Canine Good Citizen cert. These dogs were then adopted out with  No training cert.  No Canine Good Citizen cert.  and No Dog Food.  Was this just another one of those scams? If they were to be more realistic and truthful they would get much more support. I don’t know about you, but I cannot be shamed into supporting a scam.  I cannot agree with you when your, unrealistic and cannot see the whole picture.  I cannot trust you when your, story changes every few weeks.  That is just the way I am . I cannot help it.

Wow… i just found your website and going back in the archives i have found that you bash the Humane Society alot. Now i called up to the shelter and was asking questions about their adoption process and why it takes so much to adopt from them and i found out some very interesting information. For starters, their process is so indepth because they are looking for “forever homes” for their animals.and that shows that they truely care about the cats and dogs that they do have.I have also gone up there and found that a few of their animals cats and dogs do not like other animals or kids.so why would they send lets just say a dog that doesnt get along with other dogs to a home where another dog resides?or a cat that does not like kids to a home that has three kids where the animal is going to be miserable?why would you bash them for having the animals best interest at heart?when i was in there i did not see one “danger” sign on any of the cages. They did however ask me not to put my fingers in the cage which is understandable. From what i have learned they are a non-profit organization. How can you call them a scam when they do not get outside help from anyone.they servive off of donations alone. Now answer me this, the people on welfare or foodstamps are they scamming the government? Are they taking advantage of poeple because they get their assistance from the taxes that we all pay? should i hate on people who get medical insurance through the state?
