Do we need more megastores?

Suddenly, the region is being eyed by giant retailers as fertile ground for expansion. Wal-Mart wants to put one of its Supercenters on Telegraph Rd. in Frenchtown Township and on Lewis Ave. in Bedford Township. Meijer is looking at expanding with stores in Flat Rock and Dundee. There’s scuttlebutt about the existing Wal-Mart in Monroe being converted to a Sam’s Club. Is this something we should look forward to? Could we use even more? Are there other stores you’d like to see settle in the area? Please share your thoughts.

Maybe not a megastore, but we could use a Waffle House or some breakfast place out by I75. I think it would go over real big.

They will keep coming because of these reasons

1) Land is comparatively cheap tha in other surrounding areas

2) Taxes are reasonable

3) They have money burning a hole in their pockets

4) The public supports them (we buy what they sell!)

Tell me how in the long term we keep them at bay?

Why would you want to? Haven’t you noticed, Monroe is growing by leaps and bounds. We need stors that will give us a good price on things that we use in our life.

I say, “Let them come!”
