Does anyone remember the scandal that was drummed up by the New York Times during the election, one involving Sen. McCain and a female lobbyist? Even though there was no truth to the allegations, the Times ran with the story anyway. Now its Vicki Iseman’s turn, and she has filed a defamation suit against the Times.

Good for Her
Wednesday, December 31st, 2008New York Gone Crazy, Michigan to Follow?
Tuesday, December 30th, 2008New York Governor proposes new tax on full caloried soda, its what we call pop here in Michigan. In an effort to curtail the obesity rates in children and other sectors of New York’s population, his great idea is to add a tax on these products. Hey what’s next, maybe they should tax computers, and video games and play stations. Instead of getting outside, that’s where a lot of the “fat” kids are instead of playing sports, fishing, hunting, biking, walking, running, hiking…etc.
Good for the Detroit News/Rob Parker Suspended
Monday, December 29th, 2008As a Detroit sports fan, I am just as disgusted by the Lions season as anyone else. But call me old school, whatever you want, but show some class in your criticism, make it constructive and be informed. That said, of all the terrible reporters from the Detroit Papers, Rob Parker of the Detroit News crossed the line a few weeks ago. In a day and age where a fake apology usually gets you off the hook, the Detroit News made a great decision in suspending Parker.
Its not the first time that Parker has leaped outside the box of responsible sports journalism. He has mislead readers several times in regards to articles he wrote or spoke about dealing with players from Michigan State. In one case implementing the backup quarterback in some legal issues. Totally false and proven so publicly by the local DA. The latest case with his comments about Coach Marinelli’s daughter should be the final nail in his sports writing days in Detroit.
He called Hank Aaron a coward for not attending the games while Barry Bonds chased his home run record. Heaven forbid a man with Aaron’s class not wanting to associate his name with a player who cheated his way to the top. Or to possibly lend creditibiliy to this tainted record.
Its one thing to be critical, but this guy has a history of crossing the line. Maybe it goes back to his radio days, or he thinks that his commentary on ESPN’s First Take/Cold Pizza is real life. One thing for sure, he should be heading out of town.
50% Hike on Tags & Plates
Sunday, December 28th, 2008Many folks don’t know how close the people of the state came from paying 50% more for buying or renewing their vehicle plates starting January 1, 2009. Luckily it didn’t pass in time before the state’s congress went on holiday.
This is yet another attempt to pass on the costs of the good governor’s mismanagement of the state’s funds. She attempted a similar coup with the sportsmen and women of the state last year with the ridiculous license fee increases. Those who enjoy the state’s great outdoors stood up then, contacted their representatives and the bill was defeated.
If you don’t want to be half again as much the next time you visit the secratary of state, its time to get on the phone again, or email if you wish, and let your Reps know this is not acceptable.

That 3 0′clock wake up call
Monday, December 1st, 2008With the events taking place over the weekend, Joe Biden sounds pretty smart right now, and that is something that I thought couldn’t be done.
