Quick Hits from the House Vote

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Candice Miller from Michigan:  Michigan gets 7 billion in aid for the whole state, yet 8 billion goes to building a railroad for Harry Reid, from LA to Las Vegas.  That’s pretty fair.  Message to union workers, vote more Dems into office.

Peter Welch from Vermont, a Democrat, praised FDR for failed policies that kept the Great Depression going for 7 more years.  Some folks should read the history books, and the not the tainted ones.  Unless you count FDR for getting us into WWII,  which is the only reason our economy was boosted.  And we know the liberals don’t like war.

Steny Hoyer, Dem from Maryland:  We don’t know if the plan will work, but lets pray it does.  That makes sense, since by the time the whole thing was printed off, there were less than 24 hrs to read over 1,500 pages of document.  That after the house was promised to have 48hrs to go over the document as a whole.

Lets improve the roads and bridges, a whole 7% goes to infrastructure.  Less than 1% goes to small businesses who need it most.  More money goes to the Arts than jobs in the first year.

The Dems voted yes to no jobs right away, but frivolous jobs for the greens right away.  Which won’t take place for several years.  In the meantime, there was pork for gambling trains, marsh mouses, and Frisbee parks.

John Dingell who continues to drink the party kool-aid while they cut him off at the knees.  They have rendered this once good legislator a shell of his former self.

In Obama speak, give it up for Mike Rogers from Lansing, a conservative that knows the difference between manure and inner city spending.

Of all the spending in the bill, only 11% goes to the 2009 calendar year, while everything else goes to creating a new and bigger centralized government.

The Republican Whip states that small businesses are worried, while the feds allot money for a “green fleet”.  He yields his time to Candice Miller of Michigan, who states that the Dems went from 11.5 billion for car incentives to 1.6 billion.  In a vote to get it put back in, the Dems went over the top in voting it down.  Hope the union membership is making note where their hard earned dollars are going.

Aaron Schock, R from Illinois on the Obama Caterpillar tour.  He has had over 1,000 emails from Cat employees to obose the bill.  While the Dems are proclaiming Obama the next Lincoln, he reminds folks what Lincoln himself said.  “  What kills a skunk is the publicity it bring”.  And brings his own quote to the forefront, ” Its not a do nothing mentality, its a do the right thing mentality.”

Another quote reference to the rush to pass the bill, “Bad processes lead to bad policies.”

Its a shame what took place today, in the guise of jobs, in reality it was all about agendas.

Kudos for the Latest Failed Nomination

Have you noticed that all the noise made by President Obama’s first 100 days has quieted down?  It seems like many in the media are waiting to comment on the time period most president’s enjoy after being sworn in.  A quick look easily explains why.

Running around the country spouting doom and gloom, trying to gain support for a “recovery” bill that 63% of American DON’T WANT.    Known terrorist have their charges against them dropped.  Losing what control he actually had over congress to Reid and Pelosi, after all it is their stimulus bill.  All the while they claim we have bi-partanismship in the senate because there moderate Republicans were too wimpy to stand their ground against this financial monster.

And then we have all the failed or skewed department nominations to scrutinize.  The latest was Senator Judd Gregg from New Hampshire.  Besides inviting Republicans to watch the Super Bowl, this was the President’s one real trial run at having a bi-partisan government in D.C.  A conservative running the Commerce Department,  a spending hawk who would give ideas and be a sounding board for the administration.

It didn’t take long before Judd realized that this just wasn’t going to be a good fit, neither for him, nor the President.  He knows the spending bill will be a disaster, both now, and in the future for the nation’s children who will actually have to pay for the mess it creates.  If you cannot support the President’s policies, its really time to go.

Then the whole Census oversight by the White House.  Never before has it had such meddling by the West Wing.  All because some groups were frightend by a Republican in charge.  Sounds like the illegals wanted to be counted so that more  ”soft on immigration”  liberals would be in charge.  Again, another case of the people want one thing, the liberals in charge forget the whole “representation”  concept.

Judd Gregg knew it wouldn’t work for him being in this administration, so rather than suffer through it, or not totally supporting the “change” this President is bringing, he did the right thing, the honorable thing, and withdrew his nomination.
