Obama’s Spin Speech While Market Plunges
Monday, March 30th, 2009As the President spins his auto bailout speech today and the market reacts, here are some quick comments as he talks out of the other side of his mouth.
The President says that communities support business, and that is the democrats greatest failure, they fail to realize that the businesses are the ones that support the communities. Are they really so short sided not to realize this, if they cut the companies off at the knees, there aren’t any taxes to go to the schools, and local municipalities.
He spins the firing of Rick Wagoner, and yes it was a government controlled action, regardless that the stepped down. He says the government does not want to run these companies, but they have no problem firing folks.
He says, “Let me be clear”. Well let me be clear, he will drive these companies into the ground, because they fail to understand what caused the auto crisis. Or they will not look hard at the cause, be they are to blame for the root of the problem.
What is the cause, the housing problem, who covered up the problem, Frank, Dodd and Obama. The three people who received the most money from Freddie and Fannie. Its not that people do not want to buy big vehicles, we like big vehicles in this nation. BUT, when the choice is between a new truck or car and house payments, its a no brainer. This has little to do with warranties, although it plays a part, it is simply a choice between the house and a new car.
This an attempt to push the GREEN agenda. The new jobs and new manufacturing jobs that he talks about, just will not happen because of the present tax structure here in Michigan, and the proposed taxes the President is making.
They do not want you to drive vehicles with internal combustion engines. We are set to hold a GREEN conference here, at the President and White Houses urging. This is a push towards untested technology, and not needed on the scale he wants.
Oil prices are low, partly due to demand and partly due to the talk of exploration in the last administration. If we drill offshore, in Alaska and take advantage of the greatest coal reserve in the world, the prices will remain low.
Obama lets the unions skate on their responsibilities in these concession talks, and made Rick Wagoner the scapegoat behind the failed talks. If Wagoner had to go to get the wheels turning, then the head of the UAW needs to go as well.
The Obama Power Grab Begins: Wagoner out at GM
Sunday, March 29th, 2009So this is how it starts, the White House dictating who will run companies that receive bailouts.
Its OK to be the Party of NO
Thursday, March 26th, 2009After trying to get ideas introduced in the first couple of months into the President’s first (and only) term in office, only to be told, “We won, deal with it”. Saying no, really doesn’t sound like such a bad idea, in fact it is a word I wish Specter, Snow and the other Senator from Maine would learn how to use. After all, they are to blame just as much as those Democrats who voted for the bill that had the AIG clause in it. Remember, THE ONE NOBODY READ?
What else should the word be applied too?
No to government/treasury take overs of banks that did not receive, or request any bailout funds.
No to a National Healthcare system that takes the choices away from the seniors and doctors, and allows a board to choose if the procedure/treatment is fiscally sounds based on the patients age and condition.
No to tripling the debt over the next 10 yrs. I know Bush started it, yadda yadda, get over it, he is not the President anymore. Its time to start looking at who is in charge and taking a hard look at his ideas now.
No to the fuzzy math, who are these experts, trot them out into the light, and let the people examine their work.
No to Tim Geithner, every time he speaks, the market takes a roller coaster ride, 90% of the time plunging. Look what he did to the dollar yesterday when he said that a world wide currency should be at least considered. He should check to see what the President said during his PR conference the night before.
No to funding ACORN, community organizers …not even close. More like political tool of the left. I want them to return the funds they used to bus people up to Connecticut to harass the AIG folks, who in fact had already returned the bonuses. Why not, Obama paid them off with stimulus and budget funding.
No to “cap and trade” energy policies. Whatever money you think the government is going to give you, will be eaten up by higher electric and gas bills. There is no refund, if its taken away by new taxes.
No to higher taxes on the oil industry, they only get passed on to the consumer. Which is probably what the administration wants, so we can all be forced to drive those tiny Euro style cars.
No to the whole global warming agenda, which was renamed climate change, because we have been getting COLDER over the past 10 years.
No to any new ammo taxes. If they cannot get rid of the guns, they will make it so expensive that nobody will buy them. Its the same philosophy that Biden and Obama proclaimed during the elections, when discussing the future of the coal based electrical plants. We cannot tell you not to build them, but we will slap taxes on them so high, you won’t want to.
No to staged and faked outrage over BONUSSES, you put them in their Senator Dodd, we know the adminstration told you to. Quit with the smokescreens already.
No to the name calling Barney Frank, not everyone who disagrees with you is not a “homophobe”. Least of all a Supreme Court Justice who actually knows what is written in the Constitution.
No to the often used Obama quote, “If it were so easy, anyone could do it”. It might be easier if you focused on one problem at a time, maybe that way Pelosi, Reid, Dodd and Frank wouldn’t make you look so foolish. Not that you don’t agree with them anyway.
No to selling our debt to China, they don’t like us, never have. But the government, past and certainly present, has given them a “chip”, an edge in any future problem that comes up over the horizon. It could be trade, fuels, Korea or it could be Formosa/Taiwan…whatever its called these days.
With the current administration, there will be more to come, and its ok to say no when preserving what freedoms we have, what money is left in the wallet and retirement funds, no to higher fuel costs because of some bogus philosophy, no to cutting off oil exploration and drilling, no to wind farms that just will not produce what they claim, no to socialism, no to government take overs….no, no, no!
Pelosi Joke
Wednesday, March 25th, 2009ELIMINATING UNSAVORY LANGUAGE
Years ago when I sometimes used unsavory language, I often used the expression “Bull Sh**.” As I grew up a bit and discovered it was not necessary to use such crude language, that expression became “BS.”
Q. What did I really mean when I used those expressions?
A. I meant that something was ridiculous, or idiotic or a half truth or just stupid. It covered any number or negative formats. The dictionary defines it as: nonsense; especially, foolish insolent talk.
I have decided that I no longer will use either of those expressions in the future. When I have the need to express those feelings, I will use the word “Pelosi.”
Let me use it in a sentence. “That is just a bunch of Pelosi.”
I encourage you to do the same. It is such a good word. It really packs a punch. We are no longer being vulgar, but it clearly expresses our feelings. If enough of us use it, possible we can get the word in the dictionary. And that would be an excellent legacy for the Speaker of the House.
Goodbye Mr. Kell, Sad Day for Tiger Fans
Tuesday, March 24th, 2009I was one of those kids with the little transistor radio on late at night, flashlight under the covers tuning in to hear Paul and Ernie broadcast the Tigers’ games on WJR. But only because I would have been caught being up too later if I had snuck out to the living room to watch the game on TV on Channel 4. My favorite broadcast team in Detroit sports, while I have been alive were two of the cities two greatest sports heroes, George Kell and Al Kaline.
They were the best, in my eyes because they added to the game and never tried to be more important than the game. Something Tim Carver and Joe Buck could take a lesson about. Both were gentlemen in the truest sense of the word, and just plain good people. Kell had a way of speaking in that Arkansas drawl that made him my favorite play by play guy. You could just tell the respect that Al Kaline had for him while working in the same booth, and the respect in turn that George had for Kaline.
Even though he played for the Tigers before I was born, it might have had something to do with him playing third base, as for the reason I liked him so much as a broadcaster. Some of my favorite Tigers have played on the left corner; Aurelio Rodriquez, Tommy Brookens, Travis Fryman and Brandon Inge.
Anyway, its a sad day. The team, the league, as well the city and two states lost a great, great person in all respects.
AIG equaling Mob Mentality
Sunday, March 22nd, 2009First, I do not agree with these crazy bonuses being paid for what amounts to adding to the company’s failure to turn around.
That said, I am sick and tired of reactionary politicians trying to cover their own tails. Passing more laws that do nothing more than those on the books already do. In the case of AIG, proposing and passing bills that they KNOW are illegal, unconstitutional and simply an attempt to divert attention from their own failures. I really was saddened to learn that John Dingell was one of those who proposed the 90% tax on the bonuses. He knows better, he of all people understands the piece of paper that all of them have sworn to protect, known as the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Yes, be angry. Yes, be outraged and definitely do something about it, but follow the rule of law. Weren’t most of these same people standing in line a few months ago condemning the former administration for violating rights of non-citizens.
Get rid of Geithner, who knew all about it WAY ahead of time.
Censure or remove Dodd, who had both hands in this mess.
Look into who in the White House was pulling the strings and putting this language in the bill the President signed into law.
Smoke and mirrors are one thing, but its time to look deeper at the root of the problem, and keep the mob at home.
Dodd Flips/Pelosi has Financial Motives
Friday, March 20th, 2009First it was that Senator Dodd saying he knew nothing about the bonus provisions in the bailout bill. That could have been believable, nobody read the $%&* thing. It had to be passed quickly, it had to be signed on Lincoln’s birthday……….now we know why they didn’t want it read.
New bill should be proposed in DC, all bills presented in their final form, must have a five day waiting period before being voted on in the house and senate. Give the folks a chance to read it, let there be no more excuses for NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS WRITTEN in the first place. Also, second proposal for a new bill, no voting until the whole thing has been written and presented in its entirety. Did you know they were still adding provisions while the voting was taken place. Now of course the first proposal would take care of the second one right? Well what is to stop a committee from sliding something else in?!
Back to the man from Connecticut, Sen Dodd. Now he claims he was forced to put that provision in, by the White House. News to Dodd, they cannot force you, its that whole checks and balances thing that you forgot about.
More information now available about Pelosi’s stand on illegal immigration. There are financial motives all these people who came in at night across the border illegally. Her family is involved the veggie business, guess who works in the fields? And here I thought it was all about registering new voters, protecting families and being patriotic.
