Monroe Gets Battlefield, but do you know…

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

…at what cost to consumers.  While those pictured on the Monroe Evening News front page yesterday were sipping champagne,  some information included in the same bill went quietly unnoticed.

Included in the same bill were 2 million acres of prime oil, coal and shale deposits, placed off limits for future development.  This will almost ensure dependency on foreign oil for the short term,  rising fuel prices,  and the elemination of the trucks and SUV’s,  which are the only vehicles turning a profit,  in the long term.    Whether Michigan’s congressional members realized this or not could be up for debate, if they bothered to read the rest of the bill that did not include the River Raisin Battlefield Park.

While the administration basically does what it can to destroy the auto industry here in Michigan, and the Midwest too for that matter,  our reps to congress do little to protect what provides the most jobs for the state.  Are they oblivious to the inner workings,  have they fallen in step with the far left wing of the party,  or do they think Obama will render them personna non grata, like Pelosi has done to Dingell.

I am not sure what happend to President Obama’s pledge to use all energy available to the people, but that campaign promise seems long gone, as he pushes the green agenda.
