Just got home an hour ago, and my first impressions of the tea party held in St Mary’s park was one of being impressed. For an event with little timing involved having somewhere between 800 and 1,000 persons attend says a lot for the mood of people in the Monroe County area. I arrived around 4:30 pm, and there might have been 60 or so folks gathered around the band shell in the park.
By 5:00 pm, the grassy landscape was covered with folks from all backgrounds. Laborers, suits, grandparents, middle aged folks, teenagers and children….everybody from every walk of life you could imagine. All gathered for a singular purpose, to have their voices’ heard. Flags everywhere, signs with slogans….just expressing their first amendment rights.
I have 40 pictures to sort through and resize and will post tomorrow with additional thoughts and comments. I am really glad I went and attended the event.
