John and Debbie Dingell in Romulus/WJR/YouTube

Friday, August 7th, 2009

It seems in this every modern day of video cell phones nothing goes uncovered.    I will say this about the congressman, there were so many people last night, that they held two town hall meetings to accommodate all the folks that showed up to voice their opinion on Obama’s Health Care Plan.

If you heard his response to the questions last night on Frank Beckman this morning, you could tell he did not expect this type of response from a district that has voted him into office all these past years.  Dingell has to realize that times are “change” ing.  No longer will people simply pull the Democrat lever in the poll booth and blindly elect their officials the next time out.  The people will remember who voted on what, who followed the party line with Obama, and they will be in for a rude awakening come election time.

We are simply people worried about what is happening to this nation, and the direction it is being forced upon us by people who we elected, but refuse to listen to us.  We will not be intimidated by thugs at town hall meetings, who were brought in simply to “police” any dissenting view points.  In the last couple of days the elderly have been pushed around, and one conservative African American, who simply wanted to ask some deserving questions was sent to the hospital for his injuries he received because of it.

We are not hired by one party or another like ACORN, we are not the Nazis that Nancy Pelosi claims are coming to these meetings. Seriously has anyone seen one such flag at any of these events?  Its the CIA all over again, and Pelosi is making crap up, as fast as it will fly out of her mouth.  People are just not going to believe everything that is reported by  news commentators who get a thrill down their leg at the mention of Obama.

Debbie Dingell  :  I love the question off the bat about the Dems throwing him out of his chairmanship.

John Dingell :  Except for somone in the front row, the people that are standing up do not look like radicals, they don’t have fancy group t-shirts, they look like our neighbors.  Concerned about their future health care needs.

John Conyers should join the Biden Tour

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Michigan’s John Conyers should go on the road with Vice President Joe Biden.  The words that come out of their mouths are unbelievable.  In Biden’s case, its just “Joe being Joe.”  Seriously the VP makes Dan Quayle look like a Rhodes Scholar, and yet he gets mostly a pass in the mass media.

Today while having the radio on this morning, they replayed  John Conyers gave a little speech regarding the many complaints that people have about congressmen and women not bothering to read the bills in front of them.  It basically says why should members of congress and the senate read 1,000 page bills in two days, when they need to consult with lawyers after that to understand what they just read.  Here is the quote, then the video on YouTube:

“I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill,’” said Conyers.

“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”

Before someone tries to explain it way with the typical, “This is what he meant by that” listen to the disdain in his voice.  He fails to understand exactly why he was elected in the first place.  It might be the same attitude that landed his wife in hot water as a member of the Detroit City Council in the sludge contract kickback schemes recently.

Pelosi Knew All About It

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Soon to be right up there with “I didn’t inhale”,  now that the truth is out Nancy Pelosi is know saying she was briefed on waterboarding,  but ” didn’t know they were going to use it”.  She is dancing faster than Senator Dodd when he got caught lieing about the “bonus” clause in the stimulus bill.  First saying she knew nothing about it, and now that CIA memo’s are out,  the tap dance begins.  Big question now is, will she take the stand if the witch hunts continue, come on John Conyers, put your buddy on the stand!

Specter Actions/Words Shameful

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Over the weekend, Arlen Specter said something  that makes me so glad he is no longer a member of the Republican party.  In a statement so politically motivated, Specter claimed that Jack Kemp would be alive today, if not for the GOP’s position on stem cell research.

For those not familar with Jack Kemp, besides being a football star long ago, he was one of the Republican stalwarts from the Reagan era.  The former HUD director, he was responsible for developing inner cities and setting up empowerment zones.  Locally, it was folks like Vinnie Johnson of Detroit Piston’s fame, who went in and set up industry in Detroit.  To use his death to move a political agenda is simply wrong.

There is no cure for the type of cancer Kemp had, and its the same thing that happened to my mother.  Kemp’s  cancer was found in January, hersthe week before Christmas.  In both cases the spread was fast and widespread, she passed in February, he last weekend.

Live it up while you can Arlen, your days were done as a Republican, and have a feeling your days as a Dem will be over after the next election.

Spector goes Left

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

It wasn’t a great shock to the conservative movement yesterday when Arlen Spector, former Republican from PA announced that he was switching parties.  He had been voting against conservatives for quite some time now, siding with the Dems in the wasteful stimulus bill, again like many others, without even reading its contents.  It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if he took the two ladies from Maine with him.  If not for that whole cloture thing.

The man showed his true colors yesterday, only a month or so having promised not to leave the party.  But like many these days, he put cushy job over principles.  Showing both sides of his stripes yesterday he contradicted his motives at every turn during the speech announcing his move.  In the beginning saying that he had become more in line with the Dems in his way of thinking, and moments later stating there was no way he could win his primary fight, and that he wasn’t ready to end his political career that way.

They can have him………….

Obama Backs Dodd

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

While Chris Dodd has raised over a million dollar towards his re-election campaign, hardly even of it has come from Connecticut, the state he represents.  Now when he is 20 points behind in the polls, President Obama has weighed into the fray, from an interview with the Boston Globe.

“Chris is going through a rough patch,” Obama said. “He just has an extraordinary record of accomplishment, and I think the people in Connecticut will come to recognize that. … He always has his constituencies at heart, and he’s somebody I’m going to be relying on and working very closely with to shepherd through the types of regulatory reforms we need.”

This is one true case of backing a dead horse, and will in all likely hood drag the President’s numbers down as a result.  Obama has failed to get involved with elections to this point, but no amount of support from the “Obama nation” will stem the tide against Dodd where the people know him and his transgressions best.

Rough patch?  Nixon didn’t get caught doing this much wrong in such a short amount of time.  From sweetheart mortage deals to the cottage deal in Ireland, which is more like a MANSION.  Then you have the Potamic two step he did as he danced around questions about the AIG bonus provisions he put into the bill.

The most telling thing about that quote, and will be overlooked by most is about the regulatory regulations “we need”.  That’s double speak for getting rid of reliable sources of energy for the sake of the far left’s green agenda.  What does it mean for us, higher costs and less money to spend…..they just do not get it!

Every Vote Should Count in MN

Monday, April 20th, 2009

The mess that is the Minnesota senatorial race continues amid fraudulent voting, double counting, ballots thrown out, and different rules applied.  It will soon be up to the Minnesota Supreme Court to settle the issue, I think I see yet another recount in the works.

Its hard to believe that Al Franken could possibly be in the lead, to say the guy is off the wall is being kind.  One can only hope that Michael Moore never runs for office in Michigan…….

Monroe Gets Battlefield, but do you know…

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

…at what cost to consumers.  While those pictured on the Monroe Evening News front page yesterday were sipping champagne,  some information included in the same bill went quietly unnoticed.

Included in the same bill were 2 million acres of prime oil, coal and shale deposits, placed off limits for future development.  This will almost ensure dependency on foreign oil for the short term,  rising fuel prices,  and the elemination of the trucks and SUV’s,  which are the only vehicles turning a profit,  in the long term.    Whether Michigan’s congressional members realized this or not could be up for debate, if they bothered to read the rest of the bill that did not include the River Raisin Battlefield Park.

While the administration basically does what it can to destroy the auto industry here in Michigan, and the Midwest too for that matter,  our reps to congress do little to protect what provides the most jobs for the state.  Are they oblivious to the inner workings,  have they fallen in step with the far left wing of the party,  or do they think Obama will render them personna non grata, like Pelosi has done to Dingell.

I am not sure what happend to President Obama’s pledge to use all energy available to the people, but that campaign promise seems long gone, as he pushes the green agenda.

Kudos to Russ

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Unlike a lot of those who just love the left, when a Dem steps up and does the right thing, I will be one of the first to say kudos, good job, about time!

I have never liked this guy, mostly due to his lack of 2nd Amendment knowledge, but Russ Feingold, Democrat from our neighboring state Wisconsin, has done the right thing.  He has written to the President, and urged him to veto this pork laden budget bill.

While the President claimed yesterday that he doesn’t  follow the stock market on a daily basis, even though it has fell 3,000 pts despite all his (best????)  efforts,  congressmen on both sides of the isle are standing up and saying this bill with over 8,500 ear marks and pork.  Irresponsible spending at this point would be ill-advised at best, and disastrous at worse.

While the president is telling the people to act responsibility in their spending (unless you are investing into the market), Washington has done nothing but spend, spend and spend.  Although I am not saying that some spending may be necessary,  the wasteful spending that has taken place has been a joke.

More Rhetoric from Obama

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

During the campaign that led to the President’s election, then Senator Obama claimed that it wasn’t simply campaign rhetoric about the type of change he wanted to bring to Washington.  He blasted Sen. McCain for having lobbyist on his campaign staff, promised reforms to end their control in DC.  So while we watch democratic senators leave in their support for this free spending pork laden stimulus bill, yet another instance pops ups to show that all the talk, really was just election promises never meant to be kept.

It seems there are more tax problems following yet another of the President’s appointments for the person picked to head the chair for Health.  Tom Dashle forgot about having a car and driver provided to him, by a lobbiest/influential type person.  Then forgot to report this free service as a source of income, which is STANDARD procedure.  You really don’t get anything for free.  This time, by the way things are adding up, the senator will be paying back over $140 k in back taxes and fines.  AND YET, the new President stands behind his pick.  No change in sight!
