Obama Stands His Ground, on Principles

Monday, April 20th, 2009

When the man does something right, I have no problem acknowledging the fact.  So while the rest of the world will attend an U.N. conference against racism, the United States will join Canada, Israel, Germany and the Netherlands in not going.  The reasons are anti-Semitic remarks  put forth in conference documents.

The President is catching some heat over this though, some of them his close friends.  Democrat Barbara Lee from California, the same who led the Black Caucus over to visit Cuba, is a bit miffed to say the least.

“This decision is inconsistent with the administration’s policy of engaging with those we agree with and those we disagree with,” she said. “By boycotting Durban, the U.S. is making it more difficult for it to play a leadership role on U.N. Human Rights Council as it states it plans to do. This is a missed opportunity, plain and simple.”

Maybe she forgets that the US pays for many of these councils and programs, and if we really want to make a statement, or up our involvement at a later date, that will not be a problem.  Its the bigger picture, and whether the President and the White House feels regret over not going or not, it was the right thing to do.  I believe there is a growing anti-Israeli/Jewish  faction growing in the world today.  Mostly because I think most in the world are afraid to do anything about Iran and their nuclear program, and they have been listening to Ahmadinejad’s rhetoric and rants.

We as a country have no greater friend in the Middle East than Israel, and if the US continues to follow the UN path of do nothing philosophy in respect to Iran’s nuclear growth, it could very well be Israel’s sword that cuts that cancer out of Tehran.

Law Makers visit with Castro Brothers

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

This is so hard to believe, that there are people out there so blind to reality that they would praise someone like Fidel Castro.  If you aren’t really sure they exist, look no further than the Congressional Black Caucus.  They covered the TV news shows last night with their praise of the Cuban government, which means Fidel, and now his little brother Raul.

They said that things looked pretty good over there, and saw none of the strife and poverty that people report on.  A regular Micheal Moore moment.  Bobby Rush, former black panther and Chicago politician, told Castro that in his house he is viewed as the “Ultimate Survivor”.  And, it was like listening to an “old friend.”  A regular socialistic reunion going on.

If everything was really so rosy over there, why did all those people feel and now live in Miami?  Their lands were seized, family’s tortured and member’s killed.

While there, the Cuban government claimed that one of these members said that people here in the states were still racist.  Could it have been the one member that said the Senate was racist for not seating Roland Burris to Obama’s old seat.  Never mind that it turns out that the guy lied during his testimony.

New Defense Spending Cuts

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

While the President minces words with other members of the UN Security Counsel, and they to draft a stern response that will not tick off China over North Korea’s missile launch, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced new spending cuts.

The UN will not do anything to slap down North Korea.  President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will make big speaches, but nothing will happen.  And while our tax money is wasted bribing the North Koreans not to do it again for the fourth or fifth time,  the one thing that actually can work is cut from the budget.

Missile Defense.  No new units, no laser tech to destroy the missiles on the launch pads…nothing.  Thank goodness Israel knows how to take care of the Iranians.

Is Hillary Ready to go to Work?

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Well, the proverbial crap is starting to hit the fan it would seem.  The question now is if the newly confirmed and sworn in secretary of state is ready to go to work in two different areas of the world.  Today both Iran and North Korea announced successful launches, one a new satellite, the other a test of a long range missile capable of hitting the United States.

This is the opportunity for proving another of the President’s campaign promises, to talk to any foreign power.  Ok, honestly not sure if that can count as a campaign promise, maybe more of a primary promise which didn’t make it through the presidential run to the White House.
