As I take a break from packing for my trip to the Land of Lincoln, or Land of Corruption. Here are some quick thoughts from the news yesterday and some additional thoughts.
Now that the spending bill has been passed, watch for the end of the “Doom and Gloom” rhetoric for a while. Everything is all better know, until the next stimulus bill reaches the floor of the House. The second one, probably will focus more on jobs and cuts, vs the pet project that was signed.
For all the stomping, the market seems smarter than the President’s inner circle, it tanked again yesterday after the signing of the bill into law.
Obama needs to quit spinning history, Roosevelt was a terrible economic leader, but a great war time leader. World War II was the only thing that got the people back to work and got us out of the Great Depression. Since he so fond of comparing these two times in our history, he should get it right.
JFK and Ike did lead us out of hard economic times, but their plans were based on tax cuts, not frivolous spending projects.
In two years the Republicans will gain back control of the congress because of the passage of this bill. Even though the president will have two more years, they will be able to block any more garbage like what was just signed into law.
In the meantime, watch your retirement accounts, listen to the rhetoric, and pull out before they are seized by the fed. Obama wants us to be more European, its what they have done there.
The jobs he promises are not in proven fields, wind, solar and green tech. These are not jobs, but gearing us toward their perfect idea of utopia. The jobs don’t exist, won’t exist for those losing their auto jobs.
Watch the price of oil rise again, this administration and congress will do nothing about producing power that already exists to help out in our own wallets. They have a bigger agenda, damn the costs for the people on “mainstreet”. Remember that campaign promise when they won’t even consider drilling for oil, an energy solutions that already exists now.
Rham Emmanuel, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Harry Ried and President Obama think they know what is best for the American people. It reminds me of Alexander Hamilton and his thoughts on the common masses.
Ok, in three weeks its been all about spending, making the government even bigger. Where is the line by line process the President promised about cutting federal spending and removing dead agencies?
Why an Euro model, give me one good example of socialism working across the Atlantic. We aren’t Sweden, or even England. We already fought one war against unfair taxes, and another to protect the nation from it happening again.
General Motors and Chrysler should tell the govt to stick it. Forget the brow beating, the government control and the needless waste of money in their vision of the auto world. File for bankruptcy, restructure and come back stronger than ever. This congress, this president will never allow the cuts to be made that are necessary. Even though they hurt the workers at every turn with emission standards and CART reforms, they still need the unions to get elected. Iacocca where are you now? Could you actually see Henry Ford bending over to appease California standards? Heck no, ol’ Henry would say this is the car I build, its available in black, buy it or don’t. How long would CA go without new cars being available in their state?!
