Michigan’s John Conyers should go on the road with Vice President Joe Biden. The words that come out of their mouths are unbelievable. In Biden’s case, its just “Joe being Joe.” Seriously the VP makes Dan Quayle look like a Rhodes Scholar, and yet he gets mostly a pass in the mass media.

Today while having the radio on this morning, they replayed John Conyers gave a little speech regarding the many complaints that people have about congressmen and women not bothering to read the bills in front of them. It basically says why should members of congress and the senate read 1,000 page bills in two days, when they need to consult with lawyers after that to understand what they just read. Here is the quote, then the video on YouTube:

“I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill,’” said Conyers.

“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”

Before someone tries to explain it way with the typical, “This is what he meant by that” listen to the disdain in his voice. He fails to understand exactly why he was elected in the first place. It might be the same attitude that landed his wife in hot water as a member of the Detroit City Council in the sludge contract kickback schemes recently.

…shut down Detroit?

…pay their own taxes?

…manage your lives?

…screw in a light bulb?

…etc…etc…etc?

Obama has set a new record for circumventing the Constitution with his self appointed underlings. People that answer to no one, but him.

Yes its true, he was not the first president to do so, and it even started under Preside Reagan with a “Drug Czar”, which was continued under the senior Pres. Bush. Expanded to three under Pres. Clinton, then up to 4 under our last president.

Obama has stretched this up to 16 positions. You can argue the same ol’, same ol’….others started this, its the tact a politician would take. Or you could say, I don’t care who started it, it was wrong then, and it is wrong now, and it has to stop.

A president does not have the authority to make such appointees, even with the best intentions. You destroy the system of checks and balances written into the perhaps most important document written by the founding fathers. The bad thing is this, there are already departments to handle all of this. Its either a case of a politician reacting to something, and instead of enforcing laws that already exist, but insist on passing a new law….OR….it is the President seizing more power for himself and the federal government.

Here is a list of all of Obama’s Czars taken from Glenn Beck’s website.

President Obama: 16 Czars (and counting)

18 states have indicted local ACORN groups.

Nevada is the only state to bring charges against the national headquarters of ACORN.

Some local chapters have been hired by the Census Bureau to conduct counts, even after all the voter fraud charges. Want to bet Detroit, Cleveland and other urban areas should some growth this year?

Key Democrats continue to block any attempt by congress to investigate the organizations.

Michigan’s John Conyers said three weeks ago that there should be an investigation, but under pressure since then, he has backed away from those comments and flip-flopped.

There are former members and present ACORN members who will be bringing out facts and speaking out. One thing brought out from the conversation on Beck’s show, its all about the money, and not so much about the gain in voters.

The ACORN 8 So far its a mission statement, but even that alludes to more information coming soon.

While Chris Dodd has raised over a million dollar towards his re-election campaign, hardly even of it has come from Connecticut, the state he represents. Now when he is 20 points behind in the polls, President Obama has weighed into the fray, from an interview with the Boston Globe.

“Chris is going through a rough patch,” Obama said. “He just has an extraordinary record of accomplishment, and I think the people in Connecticut will come to recognize that. … He always has his constituencies at heart, and he’s somebody I’m going to be relying on and working very closely with to shepherd through the types of regulatory reforms we need.”

This is one true case of backing a dead horse, and will in all likely hood drag the President’s numbers down as a result. Obama has failed to get involved with elections to this point, but no amount of support from the “Obama nation” will stem the tide against Dodd where the people know him and his transgressions best.

Rough patch? Nixon didn’t get caught doing this much wrong in such a short amount of time. From sweetheart mortage deals to the cottage deal in Ireland, which is more like a MANSION. Then you have the Potamic two step he did as he danced around questions about the AIG bonus provisions he put into the bill.

The most telling thing about that quote, and will be overlooked by most is about the regulatory regulations “we need”. That’s double speak for getting rid of reliable sources of energy for the sake of the far left’s green agenda. What does it mean for us, higher costs and less money to spend…..they just do not get it!

In an effort to bolster coffers due to lagging union membership/dues, the AFL-CIO and Change to Win (a splinter group of the union) have adopted measures in support of illegal immigration.

http://www.aflcio.org/issues/civilrights/immigration/upload/immigrationreform041409.pdf

While the numbers of Americans by a vast majority (a true mandate) do not favor amnesty for illegals here in the states, the union joins with the White House in supporting the measure. This coincides with statements made recently by Rham Emmanuel, the Obama White House Chief of Staff. The far left welcomes illegals in hopes of bolstering their voting numbers and will, as they have stated, redraw the district lines to fully take advantage of their new voting base.

The move could possibly further splinter union membership. While thousands of union workers are struggling to find jobs, the union proposes an increased membership making it harder for legal and native Americans to find jobs in a shrinking job environment.

This could be just as polarizing as it was about a year ago when John McCain crossed over and joined with some dems on immigration reform. It was a lesson well learned for members of congress, right and left. You take the wrong side, and you lose the next election. Stabbenow, Levins and the rest should heed this lesson, or side with it, and lose the next time out.

This must be driving the far left loons nuts. For those who said Obama would change his ways once he started getting briefed on how effective it was to tap the calls of terrorists coming into the states, you were right. The whole thing was a farce driven by the far left liberals, in and out of congress. Those in congress were fully briefed, and knew all the details before they put their fake outrage for all to see. It helped get their guy elected, and now he sees the strategic value, or sees the light, either way it will help protect the nation.

http://digg.com/d1V032

McCain’s campaign saw it coming a long time ago:

…at what cost to consumers. While those pictured on the Monroe Evening News front page yesterday were sipping champagne, some information included in the same bill went quietly unnoticed.

Included in the same bill were 2 million acres of prime oil, coal and shale deposits, placed off limits for future development. This will almost ensure dependency on foreign oil for the short term, rising fuel prices, and the elemination of the trucks and SUV’s, which are the only vehicles turning a profit, in the long term. Whether Michigan’s congressional members realized this or not could be up for debate, if they bothered to read the rest of the bill that did not include the River Raisin Battlefield Park.

While the administration basically does what it can to destroy the auto industry here in Michigan, and the Midwest too for that matter, our reps to congress do little to protect what provides the most jobs for the state. Are they oblivious to the inner workings, have they fallen in step with the far left wing of the party, or do they think Obama will render them personna non grata, like Pelosi has done to Dingell.

I am not sure what happend to President Obama’s pledge to use all energy available to the people, but that campaign promise seems long gone, as he pushes the green agenda.

As the President spins his auto bailout speech today and the market reacts, here are some quick comments as he talks out of the other side of his mouth.

The President says that communities support business, and that is the democrats greatest failure, they fail to realize that the businesses are the ones that support the communities. Are they really so short sided not to realize this, if they cut the companies off at the knees, there aren’t any taxes to go to the schools, and local municipalities.

He spins the firing of Rick Wagoner, and yes it was a government controlled action, regardless that the stepped down. He says the government does not want to run these companies, but they have no problem firing folks.

He says, “Let me be clear”. Well let me be clear, he will drive these companies into the ground, because they fail to understand what caused the auto crisis. Or they will not look hard at the cause, be they are to blame for the root of the problem.

What is the cause, the housing problem, who covered up the problem, Frank, Dodd and Obama. The three people who received the most money from Freddie and Fannie. Its not that people do not want to buy big vehicles, we like big vehicles in this nation. BUT, when the choice is between a new truck or car and house payments, its a no brainer. This has little to do with warranties, although it plays a part, it is simply a choice between the house and a new car.

This an attempt to push the GREEN agenda. The new jobs and new manufacturing jobs that he talks about, just will not happen because of the present tax structure here in Michigan, and the proposed taxes the President is making.

They do not want you to drive vehicles with internal combustion engines. We are set to hold a GREEN conference here, at the President and White Houses urging. This is a push towards untested technology, and not needed on the scale he wants.

Oil prices are low, partly due to demand and partly due to the talk of exploration in the last administration. If we drill offshore, in Alaska and take advantage of the greatest coal reserve in the world, the prices will remain low.

Obama lets the unions skate on their responsibilities in these concession talks, and made Rick Wagoner the scapegoat behind the failed talks. If Wagoner had to go to get the wheels turning, then the head of the UAW needs to go as well.
