Phone Propaganda

Friday, October 16th, 2009

I had seriously though about not doing this anymore, writing a conservative blog in Monroe County?  Was I nuts or what, then the phone rang today and the old fire came back.  People that just do not get it, never will.  They fail to see beyond the cover, and actually read the pages to see what is happening to our state.

Ok, so what set me off, I just got a phone call about  poor Randy Richardville who voted to eliminate the state’s Promise Scholarship.  Now I do not agree with some things Richardville does, but mostly because I do not think he does enough.  I applaud him though in taking this stand.

They blamed him for the scholarship making the cut as part of the new state budget. They want me to call him up and for him to change his mind. What they do not tell you is that this scholarship was already funded, and there was no new need for putting aside funds to make it work.  Its another case of blaming those mean Republicans/Conservatives for their own mistakes, it seems to happen a lot.

The Michigan Promise Scholarship was totally funded a few years ago by the huge tobacco settlement that all the states received.  What the libs on the left are not mentioning that this fund was raided like social security years ago.  They saw a cash cow,  and Governor Granholm milked her dry.  Like social security and retirement funds, they stole the money and never thought about paying it back, and even if they did, the state is in such a mess, it could not if it tried.

No wonder Richardville voted against sending more money to a cow who leaks money like  a sieve.  If you received this bogus call today, now you know the “rest of the story”.

Carl Levin; Where does the money go now?

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., promised $3.8 million to preserve and redevelop part of old Tiger Stadium to help revitalize a distressed area of Detroit.

Actually that number seems to be the low ball account of the money that was set aside from the HUGE pork laden spending bill rushed through congress without anyone reading it, then signed by the spender himself, President Obama.

Now that the old section of Tiger Stadium still left standing is set for demolition (just announced this week), where does the reported 3.8 to 4.2 million go?  Does it not get spent?  Does it go to repay the debt created by the spending bill?  Or does it go into some slush fund to perpetuate the “Green Myth”?

Monroe’s Tea Party: Pics and Thoughts

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

After looking through 40 pictures that I took yesterday, finding the ones that were actually in focus (that’s why you take duplicates) and getting them re-sized, finally ready to post.

Again, as I quickly wrote yesterday, this was a great event for all those who attended.  I met an 83 year old World War II vet who was in charge of all the electrical wiring at both the Monroe Power Plant and Fermi II when they were built.  Saw a dear friend from Maybee who I only see at the fair anymore.  Some old friends from the days working in Dundee.  The best part though was actually just saying “hello” and talking to different folks who came together with the same ideas in mind.

Government is too big, and intrusive.

Too many taxes, and the wasteful spending of those taxes.

Disdain for those elected to the state and federal government who do not read bills, or listen or respond to their constituents.

False hope from misleading campaign promises used just to get elected.  I know, nothing really new, but still aren’t you tired of it too?

Here are some pics of the event, and will have more later.

Tax Day Tea Party in Monroe, and Around the Country

Friday, April 10th, 2009

The small tea parties that started a few months ago have grown by leaps and bounds and will reach record numbers on April 15th.  A lot of this has been ignored in the media, although some have been diligent in their reporting on the grass roots demonstration over government spending and new tax proposals.

This isn’t a democratic vs republican thing, its people tired of paying their fair share, and their brother’s too.  Its about busting your hump to provide a living for your family, while congress fails to read bills before they are sent to be a law, that takes more money out of your pocket.  It might not be in the form of an income tax, it could be a tobacco tax, beer tax, gas tax, cap and trade tax or simply a tea tax.  Tax is tax, you cannot sugar coat it, it takes money out of your pocket,  then goes through the government, where they put it in somebody else’s pocket.

Where to go in Michigan, there isn’t just one to go to either and there will be one right here in Monroe at St. Mary’s Park.

City: Monroe
When: April 15, 5:00pm – 6:00pm
Where: St. Marys Park, corner of Elm and Monroe Streets
Contact: strowbridge@trowbridgefinancial.com

Here are some comments from around the country taken from a few sites I found.  This is a real underground/grass roots movement.  There were literally too many sites to post all the links.  The left in the media just do not want you to know about it………..  You won’t see a million at a single party (more than likely), but you will see millions from across the country gettting together to have their voices heard.

Monroe Gets Battlefield, but do you know…

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

…at what cost to consumers.  While those pictured on the Monroe Evening News front page yesterday were sipping champagne,  some information included in the same bill went quietly unnoticed.

Included in the same bill were 2 million acres of prime oil, coal and shale deposits, placed off limits for future development.  This will almost ensure dependency on foreign oil for the short term,  rising fuel prices,  and the elemination of the trucks and SUV’s,  which are the only vehicles turning a profit,  in the long term.    Whether Michigan’s congressional members realized this or not could be up for debate, if they bothered to read the rest of the bill that did not include the River Raisin Battlefield Park.

While the administration basically does what it can to destroy the auto industry here in Michigan, and the Midwest too for that matter,  our reps to congress do little to protect what provides the most jobs for the state.  Are they oblivious to the inner workings,  have they fallen in step with the far left wing of the party,  or do they think Obama will render them personna non grata, like Pelosi has done to Dingell.

I am not sure what happend to President Obama’s pledge to use all energy available to the people, but that campaign promise seems long gone, as he pushes the green agenda.

Washington Governor Gets it Right

Friday, March 6th, 2009

In an effort to reduce government spending and waste the democratic governor of the state of Washington Chris Gregoire,  has the right approach.  Instead of raising taxes in a stagnant economy, she is slashing the size of the state’s bureaucracy, wants to eliminate more than 135 boards and commissions.

It seems like a lot until you realize there are over 470, including one overseeing the turf industry.  Members in the legislature want to eliminate all the boards and commissions, then have them come back before Washington’s legislature and make a case for their existence.

A Lansing Tea Party: The Seeds of Revolution

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

This lil’ tea party was inspired by an on air personality Rick Santelli, on of all stations CNBC.

I heard about it this morning on the Frank Beckman show on WJR.  One of the grass roots organizers (no, not ACORN) called in with some information about Tea Party Rally tomorrow at Noon on the steps of the Capitol in Lansing.

Who knows, maybe some good can come from Lansing these days,  maybe the message of the common sense folk can be heard all the way to the District of Columbia.  Did you hear how much President Obama wants for his budget this year?  On top of their pet spending projects?  On top of the failed bailouts?

What could be the governments biggest fear this year, the the people rise up and say no to taxes, or that the Chinese say no to anymore loans?

Stabenow, Rogers on WJR

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Two things from Debbie Stabenow on WJR this morning.

On the Paul W. show, she admitted not reading the so called stimulus bill.  So she has no clue what she actually voted for.

Second thing, she is now saying that the “Fairness doctrine is not her issue”  and will have nothing to do with it.  Its a complete turnaround from her statements just a few weeks ago.  Perhaps because of the light shined on the fact that her husband would directly profit from the act being passed.

Lets see how she votes if it comes up.

I saw the representative from the Lansing district speak in front of the house while the debate raged on in the house before the passage of the so called stimulus bill.  Between that and hearing him speak on WJR this morning,  I am becoming more impressed with Mike Rogers.  He speaks plain and to the point.

Six of Obama’s campaign promises were broken during the passage of the bill.

Doctors and patients will lose the ability to choose their procedures, and it will be come a cost cutting/effective procedure.  With seniors being refused treatment based on life longevity and cost.

An inadvertant attack on the 2nd Amendment, through outrageous taxes on ammunition.

30 Million for Pelosi’s “mouse” project. Plus more frivolous spending for pet projects that do nothing for getting people back to work.

The Two Sides of Debbie

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Debbie Stabenow that is.  She is one of the many liberals crying for the return of the Fairness Doctrine.  Not familiar, quick review:  Its a bill that would force radio stations to air liberal programs, no matter how unprofitable they are.  She supports this, even though the President was opposed to it during the campaign.

It is now coming to light, that her husband Tom Athans is an executive vice president with Air America, the  liberal broadcast company.  Also, the guy who sets up dates with 18 yr old prostitutes on the internet for $150 in cash.

“Thomas Athans, the husband of U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow and cofounder of a liberal talk radio network, told Troy police detectives that he paid a prostitute $150 for sex at a Troy hotel in late February, according to a police report obtained Wednesday by the Free Press under the Freedom of Information Act. Athans, 46, was not arrested or charged, but agreed to fully cooperate with police in their investigation of Internet-based prostitution at hotels in the city, according to the report. Athans was pulled over by police on I-75 minutes after leaving the Residence Inn on Livernois, just east of I-75 and south of Big Beaver, the evening of Feb. 26. He was driving a Cadillac DeVille registered jointly to him and Stabenow at their address in Lansing. He was ticketed for driving on a suspended license. When questioned during the stop, he acknowledged he had been at the hotel with a woman he met on the Internet. On further questioning, he acknowledged he had paid the woman $150 for oral sex.”…Detroit Free Press

WJR Skewed to the Right?

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

The First Gentleman of Michigan claims that WJR, the station we all grew up with on the AM dial, leans to the right.  That is the feeling that comes from Dan Mulhern, the husband of Governor Granholm.  Most of the stink reported in today Detroit News stems from the delay of the broadcast of the governor’s schedule speech tonight.  In a scheduling conflict, due to L Brooks Patterson booking the time slot last spring.

In the article, they list all the shows on WJR; Paul W. Smith, Frank Beckman, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Dr. Laura and Mitch Albom.  So lets take a look at the local folks first, is there a lean to the right there?  Actually I see a pretty balanced outlook coming from Smith, Beckman and Albom.  I see Paul W. as Detroit’s version of Larry King, pretty much a softballer during interviews with a slight lean to the left.  Frank Beckman is definitely a conservative, and one of the few people who broadcast in the state, who feels global warming is a bunch of bunk.  Yet, he treats his celeb interviews with a courteous attitude.  I about laughed when I read that Mitch Albom was a “centralist” in the article.  He really is so far to the liberal left, and his socialistic views are pretty clear.

I will have to agree that the syndicated shows are to the right of the middle.  Rush is Rush, and he points out the differences with a rare comical humor at times.  Hannity, well what to say about Hannity.  I could do without the shouting sometimes, but he basically a Rush on steroids.  Levin, not my favorite, and at times can give the right the wrong outlook it needs to present.  He can be way out there.  Dr. Laura Schlessinger’s show I really do enjoy.  Why do you have to be labeled a “right winger” for presenting common sense parenting and social points of view.  Where there too many generations really screwed up by Dr. Spock to get the message?

So why all the conserative syndicated shows?  Because it sells, people listen, and people advertise.  There is a reason why the New York Times had to seek a bailout loan from a foreign investor, people are tired of the far left rhetoric.  Most folks don’t want a “nanny state”,  keep Big Brother out of my business.

After reading the article from Neal Rubin this morning, I really wish we had a “First Dude”, rather than a Canadian gentleman in Lansing.  Besides, if the left is screaming for a voice in Michigan, you already have the Detroit Free Press, and all the AP articles you want locally.
