Miss Michigan talent

Miss Michigan Elizabeth Wertenberger won’t take the stage until late tonight for her preliminary round of talent competitions. But the Miss America Organization did post a photo gallery earlier this evening of the dress rehearsal – and there are a lot of photos of Elizabeth.

The first dance I saw her perform was “Mink Schmink,” most likely during the Miss Monroe County 2007 pageant. Even though she didn’t win the local crown until the following year, the talent piece was one of the first things I remembered about Elizabeth when she won Miss Michigan. You’ll see from the Miss Michigan site that she danced to “Mink Schmink” for that title as well.

So I was very surprised to learn shortly before Elizabeth left for Las Vegas that she changed up her dance. (See my article for The Monroe Evening News).

Her talent performance at Miss America is a rendition of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.” I’ve not seen it, and Miss America won’t be webcasting the preliminaries. Cross your fingers that a snippet will show up in the roundup video that MAO has promised to post of each night. Awards from tonight will be posted probably about 1 a.m. Tuesday – I’ll check the announcements early in the morning.

Fashion designers: heads up. Miss Michigan DESIGNED that talent costume too!
