Michigan Beer Tasting Was a Hit!
I am proud to say that the Michigan Beer Tasting at 129 Lounge last night was officially a hit!
We were hoping to get a good crowd, like around 20-30 people.
I would guess that we had around 80 people throughout the course of the night…on a Tuesday….during Fair week….on demolition derby night!
I brought my camera to the event but, sadly, it was so busy (I was selling tickets and Kevin was pouring samples) that I only ended up taking two pictures the entire night.

Although I never managed to get a picture of him, I wanted to give a big shout-out to Rob (our very own TechBox blogger).
Rob found out about the event after e-mailing me about my Michigan Beer Trip blog posts. I tipped him off to our plans for a Michigan Beer Tasting event and he ran with it. I’m pretty sure getting an article on in the MEN prior to the event was his doing and was one of the reasons we had such a great turn-out. And Rob was willing, on a moments notice, to help pour beer.
Plus… Kevin and I have met some cool new local craft beer geeks like us which we’re pretty excited about.
But most of all, we’re excited about the fact that this event proved that people in Monroe love great, locally brewed beer. We’re hoping that local bar owners will keep all of us beer-lovers in mind as they make their future purchasing decisions and possibly plan future Michigan beer events.
And…since this year’s event was such a success…I can’t wait to see how it goes next year.

Yay! Thank you guys for letting me help out. I had an awesome time, and was really impressed with the turnout. A ton more beer fans in Monroe than i ever imagined. I’m also really happy that 129 picked up a keg of Grand Crew.. my new favorite beer!!

The best result of the night was that I feel like Monroe has a beer community now. It is sad that MI Beer Month only comes around once a year. Maybe we need a MI beer season?

Hi Sarah and Kevin glad the beer tasting event went well. Hope to see ya’s around. Nice post by the way Tell Keving it is sad a beer season in badly needed or already could be summer> Better community maybe a more involved community./ later
