A package of bills nicknamed “right to work” started moving fast through the Michigan legislature Thursday Dec. 6. This is a highly controversial topic, and of much interest in southeast Michigan because of the long history of union activity in the region. Here’s the recap from Associated Press and The Monroe Evening News as Thursday’s action settled down.
Given the procedures that are in effect at the statehouse, Tuesday Dec. 11 is the next date that the House or Senate are expected to take action.
Legislators, news organizations, union leaders and other interested parties have been relying on social media such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter to quickly pass on information, comments and photos from the developments in Lansing.
