Should Tigers chase Manny?

The Boston Red Sox reportedly are entertaining offers for Manny Ramirez.

I haven’t heard the Detroit Tigers linked to these talks, but maybe they should be.

Ramirez is just the type of elite hitter the Tigers need in the middle of their batting order.

Sure, Ramirez brings some headaches with him, but he can swing the bat.

I wonder if a package of Craig Monroe and a couple of young pitchers would be enough to tempt Boston?

    Niles,

It would be a big mistake if the Tigers obtained
Ramirez. He will be 35 in May, which would mean
another aging slugger in our lineup.

I agree that the Tigers need another big bat in the
heart of the order but Ramirez isn’t the answer.

A 3, 4, 5 batting order of Ramirez, Sheffield and
Ordonez sounds great, however what you would have
are three designated hitters vying for one spot.

I can’t imagine Ramirez playing left field in Comerica
park. Granderson already has to cover for Ordonez in
right center, he would stretched to far trying to do the
    same for Ramirez.

I have no problem trading Craig Monroe. But packaging
him with a couple of young arms isn’t a good idea. If the
Tigers decide to trade away pitching prospects, they need
to get true value in return, not a malcontent who looks
    completely lost in left field.

The real question is whether or not you would be singing the same tune had michigan gone.

Michigan had their chance to prove themselves and they came up short.

    Sucks doesn’t it.

Get over it and move on…if Michigan deserved to play in the BCS final game, then they should have put out more effort when playing Ohio. And if what they showed was their all, then the nation already knows that it isn’t enough. No point in embarassing your team twice.
