Summerfield will go on the road for the first time in the playoffs next week when it plays Ubly. The Bulldogs storybook season continued Friday with a 28-22 win over Detroit Loyola.
Eric Cogan showed why he is an All-State candidate with a huge game and the Bulldogs took the lead for good with about four minutes left in the game to win.
Cogan passed the 1,000-yard mark in receiving, becoming just the second player in Monroe County Region history to do so. He intercepted two passes, scored a touchdown and scored a two-point conversion to lead the Bulldogs Friday.
Summerfield is among the final 8 teams in Division 7.
The other TCC team alive in the playoffs, Clinton, was shutout, 11-0, to Manchester. Manchester will now take on state power St. Mary Catholic Central. In other playoff action, Reading – the team that defeated Whiteford – lost 40-0 to Hudson.
With another win by each team, Summerfield and Hudson could meet in the state semifinals.
