Find mp3 files with Google

I’ve been using this for quite a while, and it works pretty good sometimes, and other times not so good. But if you’re searching for a way to listen to music online, this might be helpful. If you really are into searching Google, you may already know about search strings. Search strings tell Google to search for something very specific. Here is an example of a string, from the site that comes up on top when you search in Google “find mp3s with google“.. intitle:index.of + “mp3″ + “band name” -htm -html -php -asp – this will search for indexes of mp3 files, and leave out any other file format in the search. All you need to do is type the band name or song you’re looking for.

Where are the results coming from? Some people may upload mp3 files to their web server and leave them there. Technically, according to the laws of music, they shouldn’t be doing this, but to listen to the files online isn’t harming anything. Other results, will be from record labels, who purposely post mp3 files for you to download, which are my favorite. Regardless – check out that site to try out your own music search.

I also ran across an even easier way using Firefox from LifeSpy – check it out.
