Get lost in a soup bowl of polls!
Monday, October 13th, 2008Whenever I’m on a website that has a poll, I love to vote my opinion. It’s fun to see the results of the poll, to see how my vote ranked against other voters. Now imagine a site soley dedicated to polls..
PollSoup.com has filled that void! I was recently introduced to the site from the Publisher of the newspaper. Her friend, who happens to be a Monroe, MI resident came up with the concept and had it built. The project developed over a years time and is now ready for public use.
The registration process is very simple. After registering and signing in, you can choose from various poll sections like politics, sports, fashion, news and more. A page of polls comes up, and you can go through and vote on each poll. After voting, the poll results are displayed so you can see the percentage of votes for each selection.
A very cool concept, and very fun. I found out that 71% of people voting prefer KFC chicken to other chicken restaurants, and according to Poll Soup users, Obama has a strong lead in this years election!
There is also a contest going on right now for newly registered users. Careful, this is one of those sites you might find yourself glued to for hours!!

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008This has got to be the best invention EVER.

From:mathlete.com
WHAT: An alarm clock that wakes you up with the smell and sizzle of cooking bacon.
WHY: No one likes to wake up, especially by an alarm. This clock gently wakes you up with the mouthwatering aroma of bacon, just like waking up on a Sunday morning to the smell of Mom cooking breakfast. Unless you’re Jewish.
HOW: A frozen strip of bacon is placed in Wake n’ Bacon the night before. Because there is a 10 minute cooking time, the clock is set to go off 10 minutes before the desired waking time. Once the alarm goes off, the clock it sends a signal to a small speaker to generate the alarm sound. We hacked the clock so that the signal is re-routed by a microchip that in responds by sending a signal to a relay that throws the switch to power two halogen lamps that slow-cook the bacon in about 10 minutes.
